Rachel Wedding-McClelland


Rachel is the director of student media at the University of Tennessee where she has worked since 2014. She also teaches journalism courses in UT’s College of Communication. Prior to moving to Tennessee, Rachel was director of student publications at Indiana State University, advising the student newspaper and yearbook.

Rachel is vice president of College Media Association, an organization that serves more than 7,000 members. She also serves on the boards of East Tennessee Society of Professional Journalists and the Front Page Follies Foundation – both of which support journalism education in the Tennessee community.

Before beginning her career in higher education, Rachel worked as a print news reporter for a variety of publications covering social issues, crime, city and county government and the arts. She also worked as a stringer covering election news for the Associated Press.

Aside from newswriting, Rachel is a playwright whose award-winning work has been performed at Chicago’s famed Second City.


Jerry Bush
Assistant Director, Advertising

JerryBWHeadshotJerry is the assistant director of student media at the University of Tennessee where he has worked since 2015. He is originally from Illinois, and spent 18 years working in a variety of positions at the Daily Egyptian student newspaper at Southern Illinois University at Carbondale.

Jerry has also taught a number of advertising classes. He earned a bachelor’s degree in journalism and a master’s degree in education from Southern Illinois University.


Patrick Lamb
Media Specialist

_MGC6452Patrick is the media specialist for student media at the University of Tennessee. He received bachelor’s degree in advertising along with a minor in studio art, concentration in graphic design from UT in 2007. His greatest expertise is in print design and pre-press procedures.

Patrick has been with the Office of Student Media since 2003, first as a student advertising production artist, then as a full time staff member since 2005.

His work has won awards from the American Advertising Federation, Southern University Newspaper, and College Media Business and Advertising Managers. In his free time, Patrick is an avid outsdoorman who enjoys all that the region has to offer, including snow skiing, mountain biking and hiking. He also enjoys playing guitar, spending time with his wife and daughter, and writing about himself in third person.


John Kennedy
Technology Coordinator

John is the technology coordinator for student media at the University of Tennessee where he has worked since 2016.
John mentors and trains students on video equipment and software, teaches them how to oversee the office’s content management system and oversees the podcast network. Through work with analytics, John helps students manage and implement changes in coverage and build digital audiences by developing and adapting social media strategy.
Before coming to UT, John was the director of operations at Jupiter Entertainment and at Knoxville’s CBS Affiliate WVLT-TV.  John graduated from The University of Tennessee in 2007 with his bachelor’s degree in communication.
